But seriously, before you chastise us for YET ANOTHER post on our faves from that country to the North of Spain and to the SouthEast of the UK, we plead forgiveness as in just two nights (Thursday), homeboy is here spinning at Corvinteto with ourselves and TCC party mates. In case somehow you have yet to get the flavor of the sound that has had us unnervingly hooked since last year, below is a fairly comprehensive wrap-up of Anoraak remixes and originals.

Different parts of the Valerie crew just remix and remix each other. The Outrunners‘ track Cool Feeling was remixed a couple times and now i found the rework titled Another Cool Feeling and is done by Maethelvin. We’ve already posted about The Outrunners, now it’s Maethelvin time.

Maethelvin is one guy from France and he’s united with Valerie in the vision of a new sound and a synthetic universe. His world is narrowed down to a ‘dark miami’ type of stuff which is full of discoballs, cops with sunglasses (at night), drugs that teach you the language of the stars above the beach and heavy spaceships landing on piers. Pretty much everything Grum puts out these days makes its way immediately to these pages, and the fact that his latest touches upon our faves from the French West coast — Anoraak — guarantees a continuing of the trend. Add to this fact that Anoraak will be partying with yours trulies here in a couple weeks… passing up this track is no longer an option even if you’ve already seen it around blawg-land in the past few days. Nightdrive with You has been re-edited by quite a few peeps but I think this particular take gives it exactly what it needs for the summer — and, hell, the original *already* is the perfect sound for the summer. Enjoy the track and love it live in a couple of weeks!

I almost forgot. Today is the day that one of our favourite Valerie artists had their first release: The French Machine is out by Minitel Rose. You can listen to a song on the Valerie blog which celebrates the release with a MR week or check the awesome track titled Medley on MR’s myspace. (Magic Powder is not really my kind of sound…) Somehow the vocals remind me of the atmospheric Klaxons stuff. Buy it!

Papier Tigre is an indie band from Nantes, France. MR made them a nice little remix, grab it.

And a dolphin is just a gay shark, right? Or at least i’ve heard rumours. So, we included a mention of this track on our most recent podcast [podcast blog link, or direct download], but it’s so wave your hands in the air with closed eyes awesome that we think you deserve the full monty, rather than a version with 60 seconds of our blather on the top of it.

Pony Pony Run Run is another of the Western France scene, a love child, or perhaps godparent of, both Error Love and Anoraak — the latter of which, did we mention? (oh, only once or 15 times)… will be here next month at a Kunk/TCC party.

Boy/Girl Surrender is a synth-y summer-y happy fest that hopefully can blow up around some festivals this season. Someone bottle us some water from Nantes cos we here in Budapest can’t get enough of that smoothness.

We should post more Valerie crew, woot! Holding up the English side of the channel is dj/remixer/track producer, Russ Chimes. His work is not quite as ethereal as Chimes’ Gallic crew-mates — rather more on the happy electro dance tip — but is still tinged with that 80s dreaminess we Kunkers adore. If you’re a fan of Falke, Braxe, et al, then his works will be right up your alley.

Mulsanne is a straightforward lowkey assualt which successfully elicits the vibe of taking one’s Lotus out for a twilight South Beach cruise, either 20 years ago, or 100 years in the future… take your pick. It oozes summer.

Speaking of the Valerie crew, Kunk will have Anoraak out in Budapest next month, so stay tuned for flyer and all that jazz in the coming weeks.

Russ Chimes - Mulsanne [yousendit]

Trashbagskids just posted an awesome remix. On the raped side are Valerie membersMinitel Rose, taking the rapers role are Fckn Crew.

Minitel Rose are a 3-piece 80s, future disco, sci-fi retro electronic act from France. They are gonna have their first release out on the 28th of May entitled The French Machine.

Fckn Crew are from France as well and they are kinda on the banger side of the scale. Their stuff is played by Les Petits Pilous and their favourites are The Bloody Beetroots. This is remix is very heavy and fits amazingly with the vocals.

Cigi, merci bien on the guitar sounds. You are totally right in that we need more of that going on. Which makes me apologize even harder for going back to synth. And French synth! But alas, mon dieu — I’m seeing your guitar and raising you one with the next post, promise.

But back to the French synth, this time with The Outrunners. These dudes are a part of the Valerie crew that we can’t get enough of these days. The “don’t accuse me of not accurately describing the feeling I want to get across with my title” title, Blazing Speed and Neon Lights with You, is an older track and indeed most accurately sets you off on that jetpack to Jupiter ride that you so longed for as a 10-year-old.

They have a new remix coming out of Alternative Reality, Get Away, which captures the feeling even more superbly — you can preview it on their myspace and when it comes out, um, don’t let it… get away! Ha.

The Outrunners - Blazing Speed and Neon Lights with You [yousendit]

That soft summertime pulse. Sandy blonde hair, slightly feathered, slightly… just messy. Lost in a mishmash of 8-lane highways. Having a vague plan to go “somewhere near Santa Monica.” Anoraak taps into that seemingly inbred French ability to consume, digest, reformulate, and spit back out sonically brilliant amalgamations of Southern California life in the early 1980s. Seriously, I’ve given up trying to understand how they do it. I guess Baywatch was good for something right?

You’ve probably already picked up this track floating around somewhere. It’s the harbinger of what I can only surmise will be a smooth-as-silk EP or album in the coming months. A tinge of the Knife at the front end, and a tinge of bang at the back, this track should satisfy the spectrum of your synth dance impulses.

Anoraak is hitting some various Western European parties in the coming months, so go check him out… if you’re in the neighborhood.

You already know how much we like Crystal Castles. You are aware as well of our love for remixers from London. The following track is around for a while (exactly from September, 2007) but I’ve just discovered it and thought that it’s so remarkably INSANE that I have to share it somehow. So get ready for the remix of Alice Practice by Futurecop! It’s sick.

Futurecop! is inspired by 80s sci-fi movies and cartoons. Sounds hip, right? They’re going to be huge so you don’t wanna miss it now. They’re a duo now but ‘Manzur Igbal’ started it alone and he learned to make music on his own! Awesome. The whole futuredisco concept was invented by a German DJ, now FutureFlashs. He coined the name ‘future disco’. Check the myspace for mix-series.

“Modern synthetic electronic Sound mixed with much Space Elements, influenced by Retro ..70 and ..80 Sounds and Samples of the TV and Pop Culture - a perfect new Sound Mix, called - Future Disco - is born. A new Dimension of ultra modern melodic but banging Space Sound rocks the whole Dancefloor.”

It’s a nice expression, I’ll stick to it. Or how post-daft sounds? Nevermind, the thing is that it’s shiny and brand new! Discodust blog parties from Germany or Valerie crew (who actually inspired the new term) from France are maybe the most well-known examples. So be prepared for artists like SymbolOne, Moulinex, Minitel Rose, and a lot of stuff from Australia cause they’ll take the dancefloor over in a short time. Kunk is on the bandwagon. We’re gonna bring future disco.
