New Thieves Like Us

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Perpetual Kunk faves Thieves Like Us new album (Again and Again) is coming out next month. You previously saw and heard the Never Known Love single here not too long ago… next up is Forget Me Not, which is naturally accompanied by its own remix package. This track follows in a similar vein to the first preview release — it’s evocative of the yearn for romantic memory — introspective, but not sullen. Look for the album on May 7 through deBonton in Europe and Shelf-Life in the U.S.

Of the below, we’re particularly fond of the Not Second Date remix… and, to get a taste of the original, it can be streamed here: http://www.7digital.com/artists/thieves-like-us/forget-me-not/01-Forget-Me-Not/

The single will be released in full next week.

Never Known Love

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

We’re very happy to point your attention to a brand new track by fave’s of Kunk, Thieves Like Us. Never Known Love nicely extends upon the feeling you know them for — thoughtful and melodic with a touch of the forlorn, but not at all unspirited. This track in particular fittingly conjures up thoughts of a sound related to early 1980s-era New Order. I’ll just assume you know why i used the word fittingly in the last sentence.

Never a band to shy away from having awesome accompanying videos to their tracks — TLU once again works that angle quite nicely.

The trio is currently spread around Europe but that’s not slowed them at all from a steady stream of gigs in the continent and beyond. Don’t miss ‘em if you get the opportunity — we certainly didn’t in Budapest in late 2008. Stay tuned for the new album, “Again and Again”, later this year.

Designer Drugs Blow Up Thieves Like Us

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Kunkers have posted quite a few Thieves Like Us and likewise for Designer Drugs. This time however we can kill two acts with one click of the mouse. The DD guys have busted out a high-flying edit of Your Heart Feels, taking the original to a completely different layer of the stratosphere — in crispy clean Euro-dance technicolor glory. Actually to me the sound hearkens back to something Orbital-like from the early 90s. Makes me wanna get my Love Parade on, … almost.

We’d be remiss of course, if we didn’t mention our soft spot for the TLU guys as former Kunk guests, and as well for DD as they’ll be rocking things down with us at our Kunk season opener in September! Stay tuned for more info on that. TLU has a swing thru South America this month while DD has quite a few gigs in the US before they make their way Euro-side soon after.

Thieves Like Us LP Officially Seeing the Light

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Speaking of former Kunk guests who are putting out a full-length in the coming weeks, the Thieves Like Us guys are about to release their LP (later CD) in a short while. That bundle of tracks have been chomping at the bit for a while now, it’s about time they officially see the light! I don’t think there’s anything more that we can add that hasn’t been said already by the guys in their interview with a busty Hungarian lass at our party last fall (though our fave bit is at the end of the vid when our good buddy Adrian wanders on stage to offer a beer while they’re still playing… too cute).

You can pick up a copy of Play Music on shelflife records.

Pimping Upcoming Acts: Thieves Like Us

Friday, September 26th, 2008

In addition to being excited about our October gig… guess what? We’re excited about our November gig too! Thieves Like Us, comprising an American and two Swedes, but based out of Paris and on Kitsune’s ever present label (heard any good remix contests for Drugs in My Body lately? ;)), will grace our Danube shores in two month’s time.

No doubt you’ve heard twenty million remixes of the aforementioned original, but we’ve taken a liking to the Bang Gang version which surfaced not long ago. It’s a consistent dancer-upper which employs some nice chop ups and basically puts exactly the edge on the song which it needs. Great finish as well. Listen for it in a tasteful electro set near you!

TLU’s upcoming EP will be released on November 15, snap it up via their myspace.
