Kunk. Party. The Twelves.

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Yeah yeah, we know. Are blogging has been, let’s say, less than prolific of late. No excuses in particular other than the usuals. Day jobs, night jobs, hand jobs, etc. However, just cos our post count is down, doesn’t mean our mojo is. In fact, quite the opposite! To wit, tomorrow, mega-excited about 12.12 with The Twelves, Kunk’n it down. Those in Budapest know there’ll be no other place to be. Support sets by yours trulies, Brandon and Cigi, plus local soaring-electro wunderkid, We Plants Are Happy Plants. It’ll be a whale of a time. And speaking of whales, we gots us a few 12s remixes below to put us all in the mood.

By the way, we recently fired up a Kunk facebook fan page cos our facebook group was feeling droopy and sad like a tired dog. Come by and fan us, the water’s warm! (hopefully not yellow): http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kunk/153402970925

We’re uploading our party photos there and other good stuff.

Database and the Twelves

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Database just hit us up with a few remixes by uber-prolific remixers, The Twelves (who btw are putting out the most tasteful French-electro-pop-tinged remixes this side of Normandy). Their Beaches and Friends EP will drop in August via Itunes and the title track’s got a little bit of the disco goin’ on for it. On top of that they’re about to set out on a big ole tour with French Horn Rebellion across the US of A. It was only a matter of time.

Speaking of matter of time, the Twelves themselves are frequenting europe on a regular occasion and those locals among us in Budapest might just pay attention during late fall as we might have a latin invasion on tap (details tba). Their Noah and the Whale remix keeps the bar raised exactly where they set it long ago.

The Case of A-Ha and The Twelves

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Take On Me has probably one of the best music videos of all times. The song itself and A-Ha are such a great fit for the whole conceptual universe of 80s pop that they are almost iconic. When someone tries to battle with a track that has a status like this one, there are high expectations. Our favourite Brazilian duo, The Twelves, who have a golden touch when it comes to reworking, make it look like simple to do the job. The remix itself is simple as well, adding a layer of cutting edge synth-electro sound to the original and rejuvenating it for the dancefloors of 2009. Pretty cool. This thing should’ve appeared on a Buffet Libre project first.
