Douze, Xinobi, and Discotexas

A newcomer to the super-awesome Discotexas label is Douze. He is a ‘young french dude’ creating a really quality array of tracks… generally filed under ‘dance-y synth-y electro post-punk’ however that doesn’t do his work justice. Recently up on his soundcloud is Lovely Blue Eyes. The track takes about a minute to blossom —  at which time the bass kicks in and it because a full-flavored and tasteful pop experience — fading female and male vocals intersect, creating a sad yet positively-moving ode to the human visual apparatus.

Kunk favorite and Discotexas labelmate Xinobi also made a kicking remix of Les Paradis Artificiels, the original of which was a slightly brooding electro track. Xinobi’s version thumps it up with just the right amount of extra drum and bass. Mega-like.

Pick up both tracks via their respective soundcloud accounts.

Xinobi: Interview. Party.

We Kunkers are of course super excited about this weekend’s party with the excellent Xinobi, coming all the way from southwest Europe’s stunning enclave of Portugal. As is occasionally customary, we’ve done a lil’ interview with the man himself in advance of the festivities. For those who are music blog lovers but also simultaneously living under a rock, Xinobi is one of the founders of the super-rad Discotexas label and has been burning up parties worldwide with his live/dj sets in addition to a long list of juicy recorded material. This Saturday (March 27) at Mappa Club, the ball of fun will finally be bouncing in our Hungarian court!

 Lil’ Interview with Xinobi

What was your favorite band(s) growing in high school?

During different periods of high-school attendance I went from Pink Floyd kind of rock, to heavy metal and punk. Let’s say I really was into Pink Floyd then Metallica, Sepultura, Kreator… and then Black Flag, Adolescents, Bad Religion, 7 Seconds would make my day.

Remainder of interview, and tracks, after the jump!

Rockets

Just got a lil’ shout from Rockets about their remix of a Butterfly Bones track called Crystal Cave. The timing of the mail was particularly apt, as later this month, Kunk will host another from the Discotexas crew of which Rockets is part — in this case Xinobi. We’re pretty stoked about that gig, however more on that in the coming weeks.

After a pretty raucous weekend, this smooth and mellowed out edit is just what the doctor ordered. A full five minutes of tasty morsel beats wrapping you up in a light synth-based cocoon.

Expect a lot more in the coming months from Rockets as well as his label-mates Moullinex and Xinobi. They’re all riding a wave of releases and gigs worldwide. Ride that Discotexas train while it’s hot!
