So you should know by now that Kunk is not so enthusiastic about the technical aspects of djing and music promotion but we like to keep things personal. The same is true for our mixes: a Kunk mix is much more about the great tracks and remixes inside it than about our ability to mix them together. Of course, there are a couple moments that should appeal to anyone I guess. On this note, you can find many Kunk favourites and guests in the mix. Their sound and work inspired us as it inspires us to blog, even if we have our moments when we are more lazy/busy than usual.

Kunkers are still in recovery mode after last weekend’s shenanigans — however, no rest for the wicked as we’ve got quite the barnburner coming up this April 30, at Merlin, presented together with our mates, Kollektiva. Joining us in Budapest will be no less than the so-called ‘Andy Warhol of dance music’ and godfather of all things filthy, dirty, and electro: Larry Tee!

We Kunkers are of course super excited about this weekend’s party with the excellent Xinobi, coming all the way from southwest Europe’s stunning enclave of Portugal. As is occasionally customary, we’ve done a lil’ interview with the man himself in advance of the festivities. For those who are music blog lovers but also simultaneously living under a rock, Xinobi is one of the founders of the super-rad Discotexas label and has been burning up parties worldwide with his live/dj sets in addition to a long list of juicy recorded material. This Saturday (March 27) at Mappa Club, the ball of fun will finally be bouncing in our Hungarian court!

Lil’ Interview with Xinobi
What was your favorite band(s) growing in high school?
During different periods of high-school attendance I went from Pink Floyd kind of rock, to heavy metal and punk. Let’s say I really was into Pink Floyd then Metallica, Sepultura, Kreator… and then Black Flag, Adolescents, Bad Religion, 7 Seconds would make my day.

Music making is in Justin Faust‘s blood, so it’s no surprise that he’s been busting out fresh tunes since he was an lil’ apple in his daddy’s eye. Speaking of lil’, we made a pint-sized interview with the man himself in advance of our long anticipated party, this Saturday in Mappa Club. The flyer basically tells the story.
I’m sure you’ve also gotten wind of the tasty morsel which was just released by the stellar DiscoTexas guys, of Faust’s Holdin’ On single, with accompanying remixes by Moulinex, and Nightriders. WPAHP is our resident support guest for many many reasons. Everyone should probably have noticed by now that we are hardcore suckers for nu-sentimental synth originality and epic electronic creations. WPAHP delivers just that, every track tries to tell a tale, swimming on the synth sounds that evoke an ocean on another planet far far away. As many Kunk nights are witnesses, his live sets are perfect applications of his producing aesthetics to the dancefloor. Epic nu-disco night coming up, folks, epic. Just check out this CRJ remix, the tension escalates towards the stars, and in the end it breaks down in a fitting manner. Also, he has an official video and he donated a track to Buffet Libre’s & Amnesty International’s PEACE project. Check it out. Kunk’s epic Season Opening takes place in 2 days. We managed to catch Designer Drugs on their European Riot tour. They will bring the dj set that provides us with one of the coolest season openers ever and it will shake the foundations of a newly renovated and renamed club, Mappa. Kunk readers must know Designer Drugs well, we’ve posted quite a lot of their remixes (previous coverage). What are Designer Drugs? For one, they are white hot. Playing in every hip club around the globe, remixing everyone from Maria Carey to Little Boots, Annie and Fischerspooner and putting out superbly produced tracks… Not surprising that the tastemaker blog and label, IHeartComix signed them. Combining elegant synth and pop sensitivity with the cruel and grand bass shocks, they are definetly emperors of dancefloors and the virtual space of the blogosphere can be proud that it helped the emergance of an act like this. It’s really a wonder that they will play in Hungary. If you’re around, you don’t want to miss it. Details and taster-tracks below.
