Addicted to Love Simulation

We’ve been posting the shit out of London’s 3-piece nu-dance space-disco synth band, Heads We Dance. In June, they had their first full-lenght out, called Love Technology which title already sets the floor for complicated virtual love triangles in mmorpgs and between robots on space ships in other galaxies. Yep, human alienation has really deep consequences. Now, HWD just recently collected their best remixes into a remix album, titled it Dance Technology and made it available as a free download at their site! Go for it while it’s hot! One of my favourites is the Tepr rework of Love in the Digital Age. It’s nice and dark, mean and chopped up. Told ya, alienation. Remember this word. No, not while watching District 9. Or maybe. Vocals are epic, even Interpol or Editors epic with the small twist of being totally influenced by Soft Cell or whatever 80s stuff along these lines. Tepr created an awesome subtle banger.

New Single from Heads We Dance

We’ve written a couple posts about Leeds’ Heads We Dance and we’re not going to stop cause they are pretty much on fire these days. They sent us their b-side from their upcoming single, When The Sirens Sound, entitled Work It Out, heads we dancefeaturing underground star, Little Boots. In addition:

“There will be two versions of ‘When The Sirens Sound’. The first is a digital only release through This Is Fake DIY Records which includes the exclusive b-side ‘Work It Out’ featuring Little Boots. The second is also a digital only release through Gash Digital and features remixes by Don Diablo, Russ Chimes, Hot Pink Delorean, Geek Chic Soundsystem and more tbc.”

The 3-piece are on their way to stardom. Look at these names! They should call the single a double a-side, actually. Work It Out is a brilliant pop song with great guitars, the dancey angle is lovely and Little Boots is great. It’s like a hidden gem from the 80s. They should ask The Rapture for a remix, would pretty much be up their alley.

Heads We Dance All Up in Your Human Face

heads we danceApologies from the Kunkers! Half-o-kunk has just spent the last 2 weeks moving into his new flat which doesn’t yet have the good ole internets, and the other half-o-kunk has been mainlining coffee to get all his crap in order before going to the US of A for Thanksgiving week. On that turn: I’ll be in NYC this weekend, SF next week, and NYC again the following weekend… not sure yet where destinations will be but give a shout if you have suggestions!

Part of our delay was also caused by last weekend’s excellent gig with Thieves Like Us. It was a blast and pics are up over at our myspaces if your interest is piqued.

So enough jabber back to the music hottness. Heads We Dance wrote us a few days back to notify about their latest single which has now caught blog wildfire. Good on them! The Leeds bunch have a nice little electro burner on their hands here. The Sidechains boys made an equally nice effort on the original and we’re not sure which we like more. Let’s call it a draw. Though usually unsatisfying, this is a draw i think i can live with.

Dancing with Heads We Dance

We Kunkers are fans of the couple tracks Heads We Dance have put out, and they were kind enough to send on some remixes that give My Heart Is Set On You some additional flavor. The Louis La Roche and Docteur Cauchemar edits propel things with a laid back, smoothed-out vibe for when the summer sun is set at its deepest and the stars are at their fullest — the Andycap mix on the other hand will definitely appeal to your inner parasitic banger twin.

You can hit up the original release beginning next week from that purveyor of all musikal things awesome, Puregroove Records. Plus it’ll be released on ltd gold vinyl, yum!
