So Kunked Podcast #1

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Oh the sweet sounds of one’s own voices. Since hearing semi-bangers is sooo much more satisfying while the inane rantings of people you don’t know in person cover up the tracks, Cigi and I humbly give you episode one of the from now fortnightly podcast of Kunk, otherwise known as So Kunked - Music and More from Budapest, Hungary. We plan on pushing the boundaries of idiocy and lameness every two weeks, so be sure to join in the fun via your headsets or speakers. Soon we’ll get it tweaked out and set up on itunes and all that jazz, but for the moment you’ll have to hit it up via good ole zshare.

What’s in store if you download this monstrosity? The usual laptop chatter of two dudes high on coffee and beer, above all else. But for the sake of organization, and you know we are not anything if not organized (haha), each show will be roughly divided up into three parts: the first which handles the intro, as well as tackles one aspect of Budapest that Cigi and I deem ‘funny, lame, or awesome’; the second which contains our ramblings on our roughly 8 (4+4) mp3 picks of the last 2 weeks; and the final part in which we banter about upcoming events in our big village. Our goal (wha, we have a goal?), for those not residing in Hungary, is to shed a little light on the capital city and give a flavor for what we’re playing at our parties, hopefully enticing some visitors… and for those who already live here, just to see what’s happening in Kunk-land — a spoken word supplement to this blog and our gigs.

We’re not gonna post all the tracks that we shot the shit about here, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t at least lay down one of them, right? Right at ya then with the upcoming single of the new Hadouken! album… and if you like the track be sure to hit them up on their myspace where you can purchase every song and piece of merch your heart desires. As for the song? I say: Hadouken! = Limp Bizkit for the nu-rave generation. Does Cigi agree? Listen to the podcast and find out!

Trash Fashion

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Ok, their name sucks. I’m inclined to think that every band name with ‘fashion’ in it sucks. Nevertheless, beyond the name and the huge hype attached to it, Trash Fashion has a catchy sound. They had an anthem ‘It’s a Rave Dave’ back in 2006 when nu rave was cool. The new single entitled ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ is a change in attitude. They move towards the rockier side of the scale. It reminds me of The Ghost Frequency (which is an awesome and much more original band btw). Still has similarities to Hadouken! (latest single Mom & Dad was awful) but the screaming and the guitars now show a twist (though Hadouken! did the same with ‘Leap of Faith’) that may be a change for a better style or they only follow trends, I’m not sure. ‘Slipknot of Rave’, yeah, right, haha. However, the track’s worth to listen to it. They still look ugly as fuck though.
