Baby Monster

Friday, February 19th, 2010

I know it’s nothing new, but I wanted to pay respects to the blog-scene so decided to hype Bigstereo’s first release a bit: Baby Monster. Of course, this is not the act’s only hypeable aspect. The Oregonian band dives into the super-fashionable mix of electronica and indie, creating a nice dreamy soundscape that I could describe as inbetween Cut Copy and The Big Pink. They have a pretty great sound that taps right into the vein of the era. Melancholy and half-smiling happiness, MGMT-esque innocence and experience of many frustrations characterise their sound. “She Comes Alive” is gonna be a huge summer hit and their remix of Ellie Goulding’s “Under the Sheets” is gonna make it to my top remixes which is a huge thing since she’s super-remixed (just rewind a couple posts). I’m really curious to hear an EP or an LP, my prognosis is that it’s gonna be great. Support them!

Ellie Goulding & Monsieur Adi

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

After the brilliant Russ Chimes remix of the newest UK-star singstress Ellie’s “Starry Eyed”, the Italian fashionista, Monsieur Adi gave it a go and dropped it in our inbox. As much as this track is remixed, you really need to find the standout stuff and this is exactly of that sort. The remix is powerful and emotional. Besides the dancey parts, it has a nice dynamics of rises and falls which btw exactly fits the original cute-vulnerable vocals. Monsieur Adi seems to aim for tears under discoballs and on dancfloors.

Songs in the key of Awesome

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

We are pretty sure that regular bloginess will happen in due time. But, life is life. We’re slow and stuff. Paleolithic, one might argue. But don’t let our sedimentary nature fool you into thinking we aren’t all up in the grill of synth-flavored disco. Na-ah. Twitter to the hand, girl, please.

Below are three tracks we’re sure you all have seen on your various favorite internet destinations. They also happen to be faves of ours. Two of the three remixers (Anoraak, Russ Chimes) were here together last november for a night of insanity (pics or it didn’t happen, i know, i know)… and the third, Justin Faust, will grace the shores of Kunk next February 27. How’s that for rawk?!

All three mixes are wicked in their own way, and per usual have been getting megalove across bloggaland. Btw, don’t forget to give some love to the italians, since they do it better and everything, makers of the original track which Faust mixed: Fare Soldi!
