Love Beauty #1

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Bigstereo just came up with a new Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya track! It sounds really great. Vocals remind me of French singer-songwriter girl SoKo. This artificial cuteness. Fuck Friend (video) was a somehow like this though I can’t explain how. This song is heavy on drums and rhytm and the whole thing is quite clean. Makes me feel claustrophobia like in a hospital room or whatever. The sound is darkish disco. We await the debut on Kitsuné. Singer girl must be awesome live.

Two Completely Unrelated Tracks

New Poney Poney remix and MSTRKRFT single.

Neither requires to many words. First one is from Poney Poney (our post about them). New single Cross the Fader produced by Justice guy Xavier is out on an EP with two awesome remixes. One by Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya and one by Headman. I’m gonna post the latter cause I like it more. I think Headman catches the original more (against the fact that BBYYY already did a remix for the Poneys).

Second song is from MSTRKRFT. Even less words are needed to explain. Their EP entitled Bounce is gonna come out on Dim Mak (awesome label) on the 1st of April. There’s a “b-side” on the EP, Vuvuvu, which actually sounds like its title. Reminds me of a SebastiAn thing I heard called Motor. Seems like new electro sounds these days take engeneering metaphors to define themselves. I’m gonna post the radio edit of the new track which took me 3-4 listens to like it but I think it grows on me. I’m not really into the rapping stuff (provided by N.O.R.E.) but whatever, I’m sure it’s gonna be sold out really fast and will be played in every club.

The Whip

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

Since I’ve first heard the “I wanna…” chanting in ‘Trash’ about a year and half ago I adore The Whip. It was a soundtrack song for the summer of 2006.

They are from Manchester, UK. Their songs are featured on Kitsuné Mainson 3 and 4. They are remixed by and remixing the coolest acts around the UK and France. They have 5 singles out: Frustration, Trash, Divebomb (video), Muzzle No. 1 (video) and Sister Siam (video) They are going on tour next year with Simian Mobile Disco.

Everyone can guess now the kind of music they play. Usually, the whole new dance movement is ‘blamed’ on Daft Punk which is not really the truth. Whatever, they play electronic dance stuff with guitars, laptop, synth, etc. They are like a softer version of Does It Offend You, Yeah?

Here’s a selection

Remixed

The Whip - Trash (Cassette Jam remix)

The Whip - Divebomb (Crystal Castles remix)

The Whip - Muzzle No. 1 (The Bloody Beetroots remix)

The Whip - Sister Siam (Bitchee Bitchee Ya Ya Ya remix)

Remixing

The Black Ghosts - Any Way… (The Whip remix)

The KBC - KBC (The Whip remix)

Asobi Seksu - Strawberries (The Whip remix)
