Lisztomania Remixes & Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
May 22nd, 2009It was pretty sure when 1901 came out that one of the most-hyped albums of 2009 will be Phoenix’s new one. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is comparable to Cut Copy, Hot Chip and this line of elegant, sophisticated nu dance music. Of course, the comparison is flawed because Phoenix is actually and older project than both aforementioned: it’s the 10th year of the French guys and it’s their 4th full-lenght. This could be the time for the band to make a shitty record but the guys succeed in being relevant and cool. I mean they totally keep their integrity while using some of the cutting-edge dance music sound and aesthetic. From the brilliant pop of Lisztomania through the epic two-parts of the beautifully titled Love Like a Sunset until the ‘it has to end’ atmosphere of Armistice. I think the next single will be Lasso. Awesome indie pop track.

Now, Lisztomania will rise to the heights of 1901 remix-wise. 3 cool remixes are by Yuksek, Classixx and Holy Ghost! The Classixx one is a laid-back summer jam, Yuksek made a heavier, hypnotic track maintaining the elegance of the original, and Holy Ghost!’s is the weirdest one and resembles the last Hot Chip album in my mind.I know it’s not very new info and not the freshest tracks but enjoy. And thanks to other blogs for the songs.
