And the Blogs Gave Birth to Their First Child: It’s a Girl (Lady)

ladystarchildWhile listening to her first album (which is pop wonderland, btw), it dawned on me that Ladyhawke is truly an amalgamation of all the different sounds occupying tasteful music bloggaland sometime here in 2K8. She’s like the immaculate conception starchild of internet. I don’t know if she set out to do this from day one, and I don’t know how she managed to garner all the pre-pre-buzz (from the Teenagers, et al) — it seems almost before first strumming her first chord.

Nevertheless, however contrived (or not) the situation may be, you can’t deny the gal’s got talent.  The new album, which has already dropped, and can be picked up in various formats from her myspates, has nary a weak spot: filler free. Not bad in a time when most struggle to put together 4 decent songs for an EP.

And the sound, as I hinted at, is hyper current pop bliss. No wonder she cites 70s pop bliss-ites Fleetwood Mac as a major influence… she’s virtually channeling Stevie Nicks. I wonder, will our generation’s kids start to grow up, will they reminisce about their parent’s first digital download of Ladyhawke, just as we did about mom’s copy of Rumours? Time will tell.
