London man-about-Bethnal Green Kissy Sell Out by no means hits it out of the park for me on every swing… however as the title suggests i’ve been warming up to him of late. The fact that Georgian (US state, not country) dinosaurs R.E.M. will be in Budapest next week as part of the yearly Sziget festival had me pining for some hits from back in the day, and the Nightswimming remix came screaming to the forefront. Naturally at first listen you think ‘how the hell is this gonna work’ — but then upon remembering how that whole ‘naked piano interlude’ vibe was big during the proper late 1980s UK rave days, it doesn’t seem like such a stretch. I’ll dare say i even dig it.

I’ve teamed it up with a Gwen Stefani guilty pleasure and his remix of the Operator Please song from a few years’ back (the original of which I loved until became like nails on a chalkboard after about 2 weeks). Finally an ‘original’ remake of Missy Elliot which is actually pretty groovin’.
