BLAMMA! BLAMMA!

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

Blamma! Blamma! are an electronic duo from London. They are extremely talented remixers and seems their own sounds are great as well. Much more exciting than lot of the djs/whatevers from France or Germany. Fresh noise in an electronic scene that will witness a small fall of a small empire soon.

Blammas had a hit song that was never out on a record properly. Now in April they are gonna make up for that and have their first EP released. Meanwhile they have killer remixes of great tracks. They are not traditional, actually, they kinda destroy songs but it is exciting and will make a huge impact on the dancefloor. Oh, sorry, I didn’t mention it? We invited them to play a set here.

Here’s a lot of stuff from them. You might wanna start with the Rival Joustas remix cause then you’ll listen to everything else by them.

Rival Joustas - Clarity (Blamma! Blamma! Clear as Mud mix)

Blamma! Blamma! vs Maximo Park - Terminal Velocity

The Teenagers - Starlett Johansson (Blamma! Blamma! Scared of Spiders mix)

Blood Red Shoes - It’s Getting Boring By The Sea (Blamma! Red Shoes mix)

Scanners - Raw (Blamma! Blamma! Scanner! mix)

Headland - Dodging Sisters (Blamma! Blamma! remix)

Headland - Love/Hate (Blamma! Blamma! Morgasm mix)

Blamma! Blamma! vs Jay-Z - Merry X-mas Jigga Man

Their own song:

Blamma! Blamma! - Carry Me Home

And lastly, here’s their appearance mix from XFm:

Sébastien vs SebastiAn

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Sébastien Tellier is a French pop dictator who shares his label with classics of electro like Air. His 4th album ‘Sexuality’ was released yesterday. 11 songs about (or to be background for?) intercourse.

The track called ‘Sexual Sportswear’ already gained a lot of attention. Beside Donovan and Tempest, Ed Banger’s SebastiAn made a remix for it. It has an awesome rhytm and holds the dismantled song perfectly together. It’s not too long, it won’t become boring. It feels hard but the changes are smooth.

Ok, we can admit there’s something to the xenophobic stereotype that the French know a lot about love and it’s physical manifesto. At least, the album, the song and the remix shows this. Not much of an evidence but who cares? It’s nice to listen to the album thinking this way. The remix is just fun cause it sounds like someone making love to the original.

A Herculean Effort

Kunk had a gay old time throwing down the music last night’s Hungarian young designer shows at Godor Club. Our only regret is that we weren’t able to keep the packed house rocking afterward, but alas, we don’t write the rules. Big shout out to Room Mag for the hook up, we love ya girl. Cigi shown enjoying his beer as we anticipate the 8pm show.

Speaking of a gay old time, for the USE portion we picked out some Hercules action. The outfit which has permanently cornered the “Fabulous!” section of the DFA Records shelf.

2nd Mixtape: Backst…Nsync’s Back!

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

Wonder what the fuck our faces doing attached to weird 90s dressed bodys on a strange stage that might be used for ’striptease in a circus’ purposes?
You’ll have the answer below.

Kunk made a mixtape for you, darlings. It’s their second…umm…ever. It’s a nice blend of fun and…fun and…well, fun. So fuck professionalism, it’s amateur - in the sense of the universal idea of being human. Nevertheless, it has everything an ear can wish for and it’s only around 30 mins.

Featuring the soon to be dancefloor anthem Body Crash from Buy Now (first played in Hungary by Brandon at Kollektiva’s NYE party); the new Cut Copy single which lives up to the expectations after Hearts on Fire; and the already posted Designer Drugs mix of the beautiful Hail Social song which we can’t stop listening to on repeat.

Hope you enjoy. We want your comments.

What’s in the Water in Philly?

Monday, February 11th, 2008

Lovely tasty bubbles, i’m guessing. Both Hail Social and Designer Drugs hail (har har) from Philadelphia, and have superbly collaborated on the below edition of Heaven. And when i say superbly, I mean that I can’t wipe the shit eating grin from my face when listening to it. Though I wouldn’t be surprised that in these ages of the internets, despite them living in the same city they’ve never managed to meet in person. Or, not. But whatever, go Philly!

Designer Drugs is ripping it up in das USA at zee moment, and a previous banger of theirs appears below as well, just for giggles.

It’s a Blogga Party, Y’all

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Hiya. So, there’s this party upcoming. It’s about… blogs. OMG, blogs! Yeah, those things. It’s taking place in approximately 2 weeks time at Trafo. You should be there. And if you’re one of the participating blogs, you better be there. ;) But really, there’ll be a special program where all participants can give a mini-showcase of what their blog lusts after. Beforehand and afterward, ourselves, kollektiva, gumipop, and death disco, will be bringin’ the house down with our LOL dj skillz.

Starring: Ektiv, Mash Kulture, Gumipop, Pep Magazine, USE fashion, Bet On Panda,
BP Fashion, BP Style, KultPlay, Mindennapi, and Our Style. Photos by: Tamas Leko

I should add, if you have an awesome blog (which i’m sure you do) and it for some reason didn’t make it into this here party. We can assure you it wasn’t for lack of intent. We love you all! Only the whole timing and logistical thing that kept us from inviting every motherfucker in this town with a keyboard. But, seeing this kind of interest, Blogga party 2.0 might not be a bad idea.
